Golden Gate Badminton Club (GGBC) is a sporting club devoted solely to badminton. It was founded in Menlo Park, California on June 11, 2005 by Mike Yang, former UC Berkeley coach and nationally ranked player who has won over seventy championship titles. GGBC has hosted many of the biggest tournaments in Northern California, including some national ranking tournaments. Players in the tournaments have included world champions such as Howard Bach, Tony Gunawan, and Halim Haryanto. The coach team included US national players such as Kowi Chandra. On October 9, 2007, a second branch of the club, with 8 courts, was opened in Emeryville, California. On March 1, 2010, the Emeryville location was sold and is now renamed Eastbay Badminton Association. The Menlo Park facility was sold to Hadi Lazuardi and renamed Royal Badminton Academy, and to Ben Lee and renamed Synergy Badminton Club in Fall 2012. == Facility == Golden Gate Badminton Club’s facilities include 8 Olympic level courts with high ceilings and European-style flooring, a full service pro-shop, a fitness room, a children’s room, locker rooms, and a mezzanine lounge.
